Kenya AIDS Vaccine Initiative

Kenya AIDS Vaccine Initiative (KAVI) at the University of Nairobi is a word-class research centre focusing on vaccine development. As a co-founder of KAVI, and the first research scientist at KAVI (2000-2001), Njagi coordinated procurement of equipment in setting up HIV vaccine research laboratory at KAVI, recruited a cross-disciplinary teams and managed administration of HIV vaccine trials ensuring that all standards were adhered to during the clinical trial.

Kesho Bora Study

Kesho Bora Study (2005-2008) was multisite multi-country WHO-Geneva randomized controlled clinical trial to study the effect of the Triple-antiretroviral prophylaxis during pregnancy and breastfeeding compared to short-ARV prophylaxis to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV-1. As a co-investigator and Laboratory Director Njagi planned and delivered laboratory services for the Nairobi site.
